Scarborough: Military Retirement Cuts are 'Sick' and 'Obscene'

This is truly pathetic. These men and women put their lives on the line every day to protect this country and the people who live here, including our elected officials, most of whom have never been in the military, and this is the thanks they get? This is pathetic. I agree why not cut their own pay and/or benefits, instead of the military. They don't care is why and if a military member starts to disagree publicly then they are shut down and even at times disciplined. I have made comments before and even wrote my Congressman and told him that I think any cuts like this need to start at the top, with them, not at the bottom where it is less effective. I truly believe if the cuts, whether it be pay or whatever, affected our elected officials first then they would not come up with or even implement such stupid bills as the ones we have been seeing as of late. I believe they should be the FIRST to be affected by any plan they develop and I also believe they should be the ones that take pay cuts, etc. to balance the budget and that includes all three branches. When a Congressman makes a minimum of $174,000 per year and the President makes $450,000 per year then I think cuts can be made without throwing them onto the backs of the working person and their families.
